Teaching Reading Online When Students Can’t Interact With the Materials on the Screen
Today we wanted to talk about how to teach reading to students who are not able to interact on the screen with you.
Our goal is always to have engaging and interactive sessions for our reading intervention students. However, there may be times when that just isn’t possible because they may be using a device that doesn’t have that functionality (such as a Google Chromebook), or you may be working from a system (such as Google Hangouts) that doesn’t allow students to control your screen.
The great news is that there is always a workaround! One of the best tools to consider is Google Classroom. You have the ability to upload slides, create assignments, add videos, etc. that your students can complete.
If you want students to be able to engage with the digital material after a lesson with you I suggest the following steps:
Create a Google Classroom: >Learn More Here<
Click Classwork
Click + Create
Click Assignment
Upload Slides or Content
Run your regular meeting where you manipulate all the content
For homework, your students can fill out their own Google Slide copy of the material!
