Today we wanted to talk about the best way to group students together for your reading intervention groups.

In this quick intervention tip of the week, we talk about how important it is to:

  1. Assess your students to understand where they are breaking down.

You can also check out last week’s blog where we talked about how to identify where students are breaking down. You can check out that quick tip by clicking >>>here<<<!

  2. Make sure you are considering a student’s age/grade level as a primary indicator for grouping students together.

Both of these factors will be important to your group. We want to make sure that we aren’t grouping a 6th grader and a 3rd grader together (check out the video to learn why!), even if they have similar ability levels, but instead - can use the child's age and their ability to put them into appropriate groups.

Check out our video below to learn more about what this looks like for us!

Then, be sure to grab our free Data Tracking System. This tool will help make data tracking easy and help you keep your session data organized. This tool will help you identify student skills so you can place them in groups that will help them make the most growth and simplify your instruction!
