Get an evaluation to better understand your child’s needs
We provide academic assessments that will answer your questions once and for all and set you in the right direction.
Maybe you feel like…
Your child is struggling academically but you aren’t sure if there is an underlying cause.
Your child is bright & capable but is not demonstrating the expected levels of success in school.
Homework time is a disaster, leaving both you and your child frustrated and angry.
Ways to work with us…
Comprehensive Learning Evaluation ($850)
A diagnostic evaluation of your child's abilities in reading, writing, math, language skills, executive functioning ability, and other foundational learning skills to understand their strengths and needs in the classroom
Provides an in-depth understanding of your child's learning profile and whether a specific learning disability (e.g., dyslexia - reading, dysgraphia - writing, or dyscalculia - math) is impacting your child’s performance
This evaluation provides an evaluation report and feedback session so that you have all of the information you need to provide to the school for the IEP/504 eligibility process
Academic Screening ($300)
A quick view of your child's ability in reading, writing, math, and language skills, commonly required for private school admissions
Provides an understanding of academic strengths and weaknesses to determine if your child is on track
For diagnostic evaluations, refer to our Comprehensive Learning Evaluation
How is this different from what the school can provide?
The goal of these evaluations is to understand how your child is performing and to provide next steps for both now and into the future. We will walk you through the results so that you’re not left trying to interpret the information on your own. Together, we’ll create an action plan for your child so that you know exactly what to do moving forward.
School-based testing is generally designed to determine whether a child qualifies for school-based services such as an Individualized Education Program.
Testing uncovers your child's unique pattern of strengths and weaknesses in order to determine:
If an IEP/504 is a recommended next step
The best learning strategies (e.g. would your child benefit from visual presentation of information, listening to information, or reading information? Do they do best with concrete vs. abstract tasks? Do they need step-by-step directions, etc.)
The best accommodations (e.g., would your child benefit from additional time, quiet testing location, the use of specific tools while learning)
What strengths and challenges might show up as the child progresses academically (what can you expect for the future)
Can also be used as formal medical documentation for additional services such as a 504 plan, extended time for ACT/SAT, private school entrance, access to Bookshare, or other tools
What’s included?
Review of Student Records and Parent Questionnaires
1:1 Evaluation with Your Child (engaging activities, and breaks as needed. It’s not computerized testing, so it is a fun and interactive experience for students of all ages)
Comprehensive Written Report (with codes for a diagnosis, if present, to qualify for additional services)
Parent Feedback Meeting (scheduled for 1-hour in-person or via Zoom - to discuss learning evaluation results, strategies to implement in school and at home, and the next steps)
Follow-up to help navigate school support services if needed
Results after Evaluation:
Clarity on student strengths and areas of need
Written documentation that can be provided to the school to help get services in place
A clear step-by-step guide of recommended next actions to help get your child on track academically

Common Questions
-

-
It will take 1-2 weeks to receive the full written report following the evaluation.
-
Unfortunately, educational testing is not typically covered by insurance. We can provide documentation to submit to your insurance or that you can use in order to use a Health Savings Account and for tax purposes.
-
We tell students that we are working to understand their brain so we know how they learn best and can best share everything they know in order to help their teachers teach in a way that best aligns with their unique learning style. You can let your child know that the goal is finding out how they learn so we can help their teachers out and make school and learning the best it can be. Many of the questions don't necessarily have a right or wrong answer and are just designed to see how your child best learns new information and shares what they know which is pretty cool!
-
Some students can get nervous before the assessment, however, we do everything we can to make it a fun and engaging experience. Some of the questions we ask will be easy and some of the questions may be things your child hasn't learned before, this is absolutely okay! We work to mix it up so that no single task takes more than 5-10 minutes so it keeps things feeling fresh. Nearly all students who come in for an evaluation say it was fun and better than they expected.
